Nick Bassett
Nick is Associate Director of Innovation at the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), where he leads initiatives to strengthen the UK bio-innovation ecosystem and connect scientific discovery with commercial investment. His portfolio includes biotechnology R&D programmes, the strategic development of the BBSRC Campus network, enterprise and entrepreneurship initiatives, and engagement with the investment community.
Prior to joining BBSRC, Nick developed Innovate UK’s Investor Partnerships programme, led the case for a further £100 million investment in the Biomedical Catalyst, and co-founded an immunohistochemical screening company. He also spent more than 15 years in the medical devices sector, specialising in diagnostics development.
Nick currently serves as a member of the AberInnovation Board and brings extensive experience spanning research commercialisation, innovation funding, entrepreneurship and life sciences investment.
