HonuWorx is developing a system using an autonomous underwater vessel (AUV) to carry ROVs to site, replacing large vessels. Once it has reached the site, a surface buoy is deployed that enables remote communications to onshore teams who then remotely operate the ROVs. It requires no offshore crew and saves large amounts of CO2 emissions. Stormy conditions don’t impact the subsea environment, so the HonuWorx solution avoids the damage and costly delays of surface launches in difficult conditions.
