Introduction

From electric vehicles to renewable energy storage, batteries are the unsung heroes of the energy transition. But with high production scrap rates, costly recalls, and opaque performance metrics, the battery industry is crying out for smarter solutions. That’s where Sention Technologies comes in.

Founded in 2022, Sention is revolutionising battery diagnostics through ultrasonic scanning and AI-powered data insights. By ‘listening’ to batteries, their Senturion device generates 3D images of internal structures – revealing hidden flaws, predicting degradation, and ultimately making batteries safer, longer-lasting, and more sustainable. With Sention’s tech, manufacturers and innovators can reduce waste, enhance performance, and unlock a new era of electrochemical excellence.

The Science

Sention’s pioneering platform uses non-invasive ultrasonic technology to inspect the inner workings of battery cells in real-time. Their benchtop Senturion device allows users to visualise internal structure without dismantling the battery, while the Sentinel software layers on advanced AI to analyse, grade, and predict battery health.

The company is already developing a next-gen product – Sentry – designed for seamless integration into production lines. Together, these tools empower decision-making across the battery supply chain, driving safety and efficiency from R&D labs to gigafactories.
