Alan joined the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) in February 2018 and leads the Access to Mentoring and Finance service. He has been instrumental in the creating a range of Defence and Security company funding mechanisms.
Alan was a Business Incubation Centre manager for 6 years, where he supported and guided companies to deliver growth and innovation. He worked with the wide range of firms to ensure they had the right strategy, company structure and plans to create a business that can attract funding.
Prior to that Alan ran a Stereoscopic Imaging business and previously worked in a government business support organisation. He has a good understanding of the drivers and needs of the diverse range of stakeholders. His first business was the first full time Paragliding School in the UK.
Alan works closely with senior Innovate UK and HEFCE staff on numerous initiatives and programmes. He has been closely associated with a wide range of regional and economic development projects and programmes.
