Fiona is an entrepreneur who has successfully established and grown biotechnology businesses.
She was recently appointed as Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). Before this, Fiona was Director of CEIDR Innovations focused on commercial translation for the University of Liverpool and LSTM. Earlier she led Absynth Biologics to advance the Company’s technology platform and pipeline; comprising vaccines to prevent bacterial infections caused by S. aureus and C. difficile. Fiona previously co-founded the anti-infectives company Novacta Biosystems and was Chief Executive until late 2007.
In her early business career Fiona founded and managed Healthcare Ventures Limited, a European incubator company, for the Rothschild Bioscience Unit and J&J Development Corporation. Her broader interests are in supporting entrepreneurs working with BBSRC, the Royal Society of Edinburgh and Biotechnology YES. Fiona has a PhD in Biochemistry (Kent) and an MBA from London Business School.
