UKI2S had its third substantial exit in as many years when Spectral Edge was bought by Apple in late 2019 for an undisclosed sum. UKI2S invested in the first Seed round in late 2013 as the company spun out of UEA and continued to invest as the company grew. We were initially attracted by the prospect of the fusion of images across a range of visible and non-visible spectra but the capabilities grew rapidly and the company was eventually acquired by Apple for its ability to handle everything from colour calibration to the bokeh effect. The calibre of the team was the key attraction and we are delighted to see that the Cambridge-based team is continuing to grow under its new owners.
